Alan B. Morrison writes what is to be the first of a series of Discussion Board posts on today’s DC v. Heller decision. Alan is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School. “Looks like clarity, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder….Even for those who disagree with the majority in Heller, there is one bright spot in the decision that the Second Amendment contains a private right to bear arms: we won’t have to do battle with the gun enthusiasts who would have immediately begun a campaign to amend the constitution if the dissent had prevailed.”
Chris Ladd at Popular Mechanics: “The key to the next generation of bio-fuels isn’t growing in a field; it’s mutating in a lab. By swapping natural genes in yeast and bacteria for synthetic ones, scientists have tricked the microbes into producing hydrocarbons—creating, in essence, billions of tiny refineries to turn simple sugars into environmentally friendly diesel, gasoline, jet fuel and bio-crude.”
Bill Roggio: Ajmi was released from at Guantanamo Bay and was searching for “a way to reconnect with the jihad.” He claimed he was tortured while at Guantanamo Bay. Thirteen Iraqi soldiers were killed and 42 were wounded after Ajmi drove an armored truck packed an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 pounds of explosives through the gate of the outpost and detonated in a spot between the three main buildings of the compound. The blast destroyed the façades of the three buildings, including the building housing the battalion headquarters.
