The GOP Rebuttal to Dem Pork-a-Pelosi: The Camp-Cantor alternative – crafted by House Ways & Means Committee ranking member Dave Camp (R-MI), Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), and the members of the House GOP Economic Recovery Working Group – will provide fast-acting tax relief to help the economy create jobs, as opposed to the congressional Democrats’ bill, which is loaded with government spending on programs and projects.

Eric Cantor, Minority Whip: The GOP may not control the agenda, but there are reasons for hope. We share a set of values that make us unapologetic about rewarding hard work and preserving the incentive for small businesses and the self-employed to grow. History is on our side.

Michael Ledeen: We’ve DONE All That…I’ll keep this short, in the interests of my impressive blood pressure. There are two “stories” about Iran/U.S. relations bubbling around. One has to do with direct talks, the other with Ahmadinejad’s demand that we apologize for our many past sins.

Toby Harnden: Obama said yesterday he did not feel he had ownership of the bill. Be that as it may, if it goes through the Senate in similar fashion and is signed into law then - the efforts of Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid notwithstanding - it will be his and his alone.

John Eggerton;  FCC commissioner Robert McDowell had a message for Democrats, or anyone else contemplating trying to reimpose the fairness doctrine: The move could undermine the justification for existing localism and children’s TV regulations, and could be used against public radio.

Ed Morrissey: The New York Times reports on how Obama made that possible during a colder-than-usual Washington winter.  All Obama did was turn up the thermostat to Hawaii hothouse levels

Congressman John Carter (R-TX), a former longtime Texas judge, today introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009, HR 735, which would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from charging penalties and interest on back taxes against U.S. citizens. Under the proposed law, any taxpayer who wrote “Rangel Rule” on their return when paying back taxes would be immune from penalties and interest.
