‘The fault, dear Barack, is not in our stars, But in ourselves’
Glenn Reynolds: New From The Times – When We Said “False”, We Meant “Kinda True”. Plus, from Mickey Kaus: “Next thing you know, the NYTers will be grabbing the mike at town halls. … At least when voters are having notentirelyirrationalfears that Obama would have the state play god by exercising yes/no power over life-ending medical decsions, he didn’t go and say something creepily extravagant and provocative like ‘we are God’s partners in matters of life and death.’ … Whew!” Also, some amusing annotation.
Bill Kristol: Conservatives support a president they generally distrust because they think it important the country win the war in Afghanistan….Republican political leaders remain supportive of the war effort…And in urging the administration to follow this course, they are willing to see the president get credit for doing the right thing.
Thank you Alan Boyd…Honest Florida Democrat: But for all the cries of Astroturf fakery and ginned-up crowds, a ground zero view in a district like Boyd’s underlines that a very real sense of anger and frustration is bubbling over as summer wanes.
Chris Stirewalt…The thrill is gone for Obama and the media…The same people who bombard us with ads for products that promise to prevent hardened arteries or encourage hardening elsewhere will soon be selling you Obamacare. “If you experience doubts about the plan lasting more than four hours, seek immediate help from Organizing for America.”
Ed Morrissey: Sarah Palin issued a strong call for tort reform from her Facebook platform this morning, calling on Congress and the American people to fix what’s specifically wrong in the US health-care system rather than break everything that works.
