NEA CONFERENCE CALL AUDIO AND TRANSCRIPT: “tell our country and our young people sort of what to do and what to be in to; and what’s cool and what’s not cool.”

“Official” culture is always unseemly, especially when the connections between officials and the ostensible creators are hidden from the audience.

Ed Morrissey: If true, the White House may have substantiated one of the arguments conservatives use for the abolition of the NEA as well as abused its power — and they have the audio to prove it

Bruce Walker: It looks like Lyndon Baines Obama is about to repeat the mistakes of his Democrat predecessor.  If our goal is to win in Afghanistan, then we should win.  Obama should whip Democrats into support or silence.  He should reach across the aisle to Republicans.  He ought to apologize, even if indirectly, for demonizing President Bush and his war on terror…If he is going to keep American troops in Afghanistan, those brave men and women deserve a commander-in-chief who is willing himself to make sacrifices for them.

Richard Fernandez: …in a world where negotiations with the Russians are not about negotiating with the Russians, where mandates for health insurance aren’t taxes, where President Obama is surprised that ACORN is receiving government money, and where 8 months after inauguration he has to ask himself what an organization he heads is trying to accomplish in Afghanistan, I think it is reasonable to argue that we are not observing or perhaps not understanding the President’s rational model.  Otherwise we’d understand what the terms of the problem were and evaluate the possible solutions.

Lefties pull God card: … there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” Hence, Obama is the U.S. president and leader of the Free World because he was appointed by God.

The Kinship Between Talk Radio and Rap:  “The differences between Ludacris and Rush Limbaugh are not that great,” he said. “Both have a huge egos, both bring a lot of bravado, both are sort of playing characters when they perform. And at the end of the day, they’re both entertainers.”

He rapped about killing, then he killed: Police in Virginia say Richard Alden Samuel McCroskey III , 20, rapped about killing people and then murdered 4 people at a Longwood University professor’s home.
