“Let Me Be Perfectly Not Clear” and “Make Lots of Mistakes About It”
LIBERAL COGNITIVE DISSONANCE DISORDER (LCDD) By Clifford Knizley
Today on The Drive Time Happy Hour, we’ll be joined by guest Marc Thiessen. He’ll be on the show to discuss his new book Courting Disaster. The book offers a ‘behind-the-scenes” look at what really took place regarding interrogations at Guantanamo Bay and other CIA ‘black sites”. Marc provides specific details about the methods used, the intelligence obtained, the terrorists captured and the attacks that were disrupted as a result of these interrogations. He makes a compelling case in favor of the enhanced interrogation techniques and provides evidence to prove the case that the program was effective, morally sound and lawful.
I have written in previous installments of LCDD about some of the details Marc brings to light in Courting Disaster and I have stated unequivocally that I support the actions taken by our intelligence community at the direction of the Bush Administration. I have also roundly criticized those people in Western society who claim moral superiority for their desire to see unlawful, enemy combatants treated as if they were American citizens afforded all of the same constitutional rights and also subject to the guidelines specified in the Geneva convention. No compelling case can be made to support the idea that sworn enemies of the United States should be treated in such a way that it endangers our national security, the lives of innocent civilians, or our military personnel.
I consider the positions taken and the arguments made by Liberals with regards to how we treat known enemy combatants in our custody to be the most egregious and absurd examples of LCDD. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the self-declared “mastermind of 9/11” is a man who thinks that it is perfectly acceptable to saw the head off of a person who is not only defenseless, but is also bound at the feet and hands. To KSM, beheading a person on videotape is a valid form of political expression. Yet, the prevailing opinion of liberals (and some others) is that KSM and people like him should not be subjected to harsh interrogation techniques, even if those techniques do no permanent harm to the man and those techniques compel him to provide information that prevents other attacks on a 9/11 scale.
Let’s think about that. We have neighbors, co-workers and possibly even family members who claim the moral high ground, because they are willing to spare brutal murderers like KSM from any temporary physical or mental discomfort, no matter the potential cost to their neighbors, co-workers or family members. Given a choice between water boarding KSM or reliving another 9/11, some Americans choose the latter. This really goes beyond LCDD and into the realms of insanity.
To make matters worse, these preening, blow-hards of moral certitude seem to lose their pristine moral compass when it comes to their behavior to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and others from their administration, such as Marc Thiessen. Go to any search engine and type in Mark’s name, the number of liberal bloggers screaming for Marc’s head is nothing short of astounding. The treatment afforded Marc by leftist “news” anchors and pundits is combative, vitriolic and unwavering in it’s universal distrust of what he has to say. There are actually people on various networks who have no “behind-the-scenes” information and zero facts who instinctively, automatically assume the very worst about Marc and the Bush Administration to the point of openly questioning the veracity of what he says. In addition, they spent years reporting their twisted speculations and assumptions as if they were facts, endangering our national security and providing propaganda to our enemies in a shameful, dangerous display of LCDD in action.
Anyone of sound mind can not remember the events of 9/11 and feel the need to engage in compassionate outreach to Islamofascist murderers, while at the same time advocating the arrest of Bush Administration officials for codifying the policies that prevented other such attacks on our homeland. Sadly, we have too many fellow citizens committed to that deadly combination of ideas and two of them, Barrack Obama and Eric Holder sit at the highest levels of the Federal Government.
